Saying Goodbye to a Faithful Companion | Boise Photographer

November 30th, 2011

This is a photograph of my dear 70-200mm, 2.8L Canon Lens.  I love this lens.  It has served me well.  I’ve even dropped it and it still worked beautifully!  However, this last damage was irreversible.  A sad goodbye to my  beautiful lens.

The story:  I was boarding a plane from Boise to Seattle.  I was flying on standby, so I was the last person on the flight.  My seat was the very first seat on the plane (no seat in front of me for me to slide my camera bag under).  Because it was a regional flight, there was limited storage in the overhead bins.  The flight attendant asked me to gate check the bag.  I hesitantly handed over my bag as I sheepishly mentioned that the bag was EXTREMELY fragile.  She took it away and I knew that was a bad idea.  I arrived to Tucson, AZ for After Dark, EDU and opened up my bag.  THere it was.  The demise of my lens.  My camera had the same fate.  My lens actually broke OFF of my camera.  Sadness.

The outcome:  Fortunately, I have insurance through Kevin Pfleger at Farmer’s (208) 861-1665 and I was well taken care of.  I was able to replace my camera and lens and get it shipped overnight for a small deductible.  HALLELUJAH!!!  I was so thankful when I realized how easy it was going to be to get my precious gear, my livelihood replaced.  I realize it’s a little dramatic, but it was a tough loss.  Photographs from a borrowed camera at After Dark, EDU to follow…

Happy Thanksgiving!!! | Boise Family Photographer

November 25th, 2011

I found this card about 8 years ago and I bring it back every year.  It’s one of my favorites.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Our sweet family spent Thanksgiving with my cousin’s husband’s sweet family.  My cousin, Kristi, and her husband, Justin, have two beautiful boys and all of our kids are good friends.  It’s super fun to see them all play and hang out.  It makes me realize what it means to be Thankful.  We have healthy kids, a roof over our heads and warm meals every day.  Praise the Lord.  Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone…

Happy Birthday, Sweet Boy | Boise Family Photographer

November 2nd, 2011

This first day of November, I’m thankful for my little guy. He turns five and I can’t believe how fast the time has flown. It seems like just yesterday, he was in the NICU after a horrible pregnancy. Not able to hold him for a few days, it was a sad time in our lives, but I’d do it all over again if it still meant I could be his Mama…love you, Baby Boy…

The “I” Family | Boise Family Photographer

October 30th, 2011

I love finding new places to photograph.  This was actually near my clients’ home.  It was in a neighborhood that was being built nearby.  Lots of weeds, dirt and debris everywhere.  A photographer’s dream!  When my client saw her images, she said to me, “I just couldn’t believe that you were bringing us into a bunch of weeds, but these are gorgeous!”  I always say, “Trust the process” – most people do.  These guys did :) .  They also ordered an incredible album of their images – I’ll share that in a different post.  For now, enjoy some of their favorites!
